Free SEGA GBA Demos Available to Japanese Shoppers This Summer

Japanese Sonic Team fans are being treated very well this Summer! Not only do they have a Sonic Party to look forward to, but according to a new report SEGA will be offering trial versions of GBA games at various Tokyo-based department stores so they can get a taste of Sonic Team magic.

The campaign starts July 27th and runs until September 8th – anyone visiting select stores in Tokyo will be able to download demo versions of Puyo Pop and ChuChu Rocket onto their Game Boy Advance handhelds. The games will last in the console’s memory until either the battery runs out or the power switch is turned off.

Fans can also playtest a number of upcoming SEGA titles as well, including Super Monkey Ball 2, Beach Spikers and Phantasy Star Online. Attendees will have the opportunity to get their photo taken with AiAi the Monkey and Sonic and Shadow too!

Finally, if you want a rare Chao to take home to your copy of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, you can also download a special A-Life critter to your GBA to look after.

We’re not jealous at all…….. although according to IGN Pocket, SEGA intends to offer similar events virtually through games such as Phantasy Star Online.
