So, our favourite Blue Spikey Spine-Rat turns 18 today, and the community is certainly finding exciting ways to celebrate the occasion!

Head over to SEGA’s Sonic facebook page during today and you can have a go at adding your comments to a number of different “What if” questions…the best replies have an opportunity to win themselves some very nice bits of Sonic merchandise!

There are also similar things going on over at Sonic’s Twitter page, so if you’re on both, you’ve got double chances of nabbing yourself something nice indeed – including signed goodies! If you want to check out what’s still up for grabs, full listings of the prizes are over on the SEGA blognik – AAUK sure has pulled out all the stops for this one!!! You need to hurry though – both contests are only lasting for the duration of today, so get your skates…er power sneakers on!

Even more deliciously (or annoyingly!), Japanese fans have their chance to nab themselves some VERY rare gear on their current prize campaign over on the Sonic Channel Website – I really want that signed Sonic drawing too! Prizes there go back to pre-Sonic Adventure games, so there are some very unique pieces to be won indeed!

    I actually forgot it was today, so what i have been doing is playing STreet Fighter, lol.

    But I use Vega which is the closest you can get to being like sonic =P with his jumping off walls and Spinning around….oh well lol

  21. I’ve already drawn birthday pictures on my DSi for Sonic and Shadow (took HOURS TO DRAW on that tiny screen), so I think I’ll wear my custom-made Sonic pants while playing Sonic/Shadow games. Maybe I’ll go out and buy a new Sonic game or order a plushie online. As for Robotnik, I’ve been wanting to make his jacket for a long time…

    Well, my borther has his B-day the 23th June too! Same as Sonic. So we had a party today! And he got a Sonic game! Sonic Riders:Zero Gravity for PS2! We had it, but it dosen’t work…
    So some Sonic here!

  26. HAPPY 18TH ANNIVERSARY, SONIC! I love you and your games, especially Unleashed! Anyway, I just want to say what a massive fan I am.
    Sonic 2 was the first game I ever played, when I was 3 years old. And now I’m 14 and I’ve been hooked ever since! Playing the games have cheered me up in some rough times, like at school and stuff. And my siblings tease of being a “geek” but I don’t care anymore. Thank you, Sonic, for 18 years of great gaming. I wish you the best of luck in the future, and I hope your games get better and better!! =D
    P.S: I have been celebrating alot, today. Besides my uniform, all I’ve worn is blue and my red converse, and I’ve been playing Sonic games all night! XD

  27. I’ll be drawing a picture contributing to the blue blur, not to mention me and my pal will be streaming tonight on all the Sonic games. SupahSonikku will touching up a birthday cake on corel painter, with fans suggesting ideas.

    What else…Hmm, not sure. Probably cake, and Icecream since it’s my dad’s birthday today as well! So, busy, busy!

During said playing, I’m gonna turn on my iPod and blast your songs loud and proud!! Then, as dusk begins to set, we (my family and I) will eat cake and toast to your birthday!!! (Then I shall start playing Sonic Unleashed!)

  30. Well, unfortunately, we were gone all dayin the city…but I still managed to kinda celebrate Sonic. I blasted all my Sonic music through my ears on my MP3. Tonight I’m probably gonna dig out ol’ Mega Collection and Gems Collection and play through as many Sonic games as I can. And, hopefully, I will make some Sonic-themed dessert in the near future.

    Very happy birthday, Sonic. No matter what anyone else says, you will always be a top game star and the number-one blue hedgehog in many people’s hearts.

  40. happy birthday sonic =P sorry no present i ve been busy altough i have question to put out there how sonic is 18 and legal i do wounder how old he is because in his first game he was 15 so wouldnt that mean he is 33 0_o but this is how i look at it. do you remeber the one episode of sonic x were it is like 6 years in the future and chis the little whiny bastard bulds a mechine that takes him to mobius but the he finds out that on mobius it has only been 3 months so i thnk that mobiens all age that way so then sonic would be like close to his 17 b day. That is just how i see it. hope your 20th annversity game doesnt suck hard like the 15th one.
