Bentley Jones has been somewhat of a rising phenomenon in the eyes of the Sonic community in recent years. Starting off his musical career as the lead producer of the Remix Factory studio, working on re-interpretations of songs from Rihanna and Britney Spears, the artist also known as Lee Brotherton had been an active part of the Overclocked Remix website long before then, with his ‘LeeBro’ remixes gaining favour with fellow fans around the world.

After being given a chance to work on the Shadow the Hedgehog soundtrack in 2005, Bentley Jones has been a focus of remixes and soundtrack collaborations ever since, with his most popular track featuring in Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 (Dreams Of An Absolution) and seeing numerous remixes.

TRANS//LATION sees the Sonic fan’s debut album as a solo pop artist, and is a collection of covers of various J-Pop songs. As you probably could tell already this is a Japanese production, with Bentley’s previous debut attempt, One Hand High, supposedly put on the back burner following a fall out with his last UK-based management team. The covers have been well received, with Ayumi Hamasaki personally expressing support over the cover of her song, ‘Depend on you’. The original producer of ‘Sunao ni naretara’ liked his re-write, ‘FINAL NIGHT’, so much that he has agreed to collaborate with Jones on his second album.

So no Sonic-based tracks on this record, but notable for the history of the artist and what he has accomplished in such a short space of time. Bentley Jones continues to provide remixes and input into future Sonic the Hedgehog soundtracks.
