  1. I never thought I’d ever say this, but GOOD GOD SEPTEMBER CAN’T COME SOON ENOUGH!!!

I JUST CAN’T WAIT!! It looks like they’re finally giving the Werehog the introduction he deserves! Sonic loosing control of his transformation is what I always wished they put into Unleashed, and now we can finally see it given justice! Plus, I love the fact that Mighty and Ray are made relevant again, it’s been a while. And Eclipse get’s his own monster form? Oh boy, I hope they’re going the route I think they’re going, because I could definitely use a good homage to another one of my favorite villains. I won’t say his name, but if they end up being the same person, I hope Eclipse changes his title from “The Darkling” to “The Dark”……ok, maybe another more obscure hint.

    “Chicken. Seed. Flower. Egg. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!”

Anyway, I’m getting hyped and I can’t wait for these issues to work their way into my hands! At least something awesome will happen after school starts again! X3

  2. Agreed!! Im loving the fact that the werehog is actually a menace, also Im sure you are talking about Mephiles the Dark arent you?

    1. PFFFFFF! WHAAAAAAAAA!? NO! Ha, noooooo, I mean, WHY would I ever do that? He’s only one of the most creepy, threatening, perhaps at times convoluted but still calculating, malevolent, and darkest villains to ever be in the Sonic series. Why would I want to see HIM in the comics, of all places. Especially with Eclipse reminding me SO MUCH of him….hahah…heheheh….heh……….

Yes, I am actually hoping that somehow this does lead to an introduction of Mephiles the Dark, or the continuation of a regularly appearing Mehpiles-like villain. Eclipse has kind of been giving me that Mephiles vibe in the Shadowfall arch, what with the lack of a nose, the glowing dark eyes, his opposition and newfound grudge against Shadow. Plus, his freaking name is Eclipse the Darkling! It could be pure coincidence, but it sounds just WAAAAAAAAAY too similar to Mephiles the Dark to written off as just that. And the idea of him transforming….well, who knows, that could lead to anything. It’s a bit out there, but I’m speculating, given the right circumstances and proper writing, that there’s the possibility that Eclipse the Darkling might “evolve” into Mephiles the Dark. It’s a bit of a stretch, but I could see it happening. But then again, I think I remember him being able to go into monster mode earlier, which was quite different from what I was imaging, but anyway.

I know I probably sound like a naive fan when I say that, but I do hope this ends up becoming the case. 2006’s role in the comics has always been 10 times more ambiguous than it was in the games. It’s always been “confirmed” that the events DID happen, which would mean that they “DIDN’T” happen, and all we ever got was a brief cameo of Mephiles in the Breakout arch. While the story was a bit of a mess, I still would have liked to have seen it get some justice, but I was just fine with The Chase (except for that stupid cover change for part 2, mumblegrumble….), and I’m even better off with the Sonic Unleashed homage that we’re getting now. Anyway, Mephiles would have been an interesting reoccurring villain to test Shadow, and the closest to that that we have gotten was Doctor Finitevus pushing Knuckles every step of the way (I also hope he comes back, he was definitely one of my favorite villains of the comic). Either way, I hope Eclipse get’s to continue to play a big role in the comics as a villain, I really see a lot of potential with him.

      1. Hehe agreed! I also liked Mephiles, though I would have liked him more if he had a completely original design like Eclipse’s.

      2. I don’t expect Eclipse to turn into Mephiles, since his Monster Form is more just a ‘Hulked-out’ version of himself. However, as a parallel to Mephiles… I could see that being a possibility.

  3. OH MY GOD YES! I’m so looking forward to the September issue! WHY CAN’T THE COMICS RELEASE TWICE A MONTH!? My favorite fanfics (including ones that I write) are about Sonic losing control of hims sanity or whatever, and now that’s finally being implemented into the comics! Plus, the Werehog is just so dang awesome, I love the form. I’m really excited to see where this is going to lead!

  4. I’ve been waiting to see a Knuckles and Shadow team up, I low key actually like Shadow in the comics and SA2B. This duo SCREAMS bad ass.

  5. Ooh, I just got an idea for issue 66’s Off-Panel!! Panel 1: (Silver the Hedgehog stands in his future.) Silver: Now that Knuckles is done with his arc in the rebooted world, I’m probably next. The readers need to know about how my future’s doing. Panel 2: (Jet the Hawk stands with his teammates) Jet: No way, the next arc has to be about me and my team. Panel 3: (Silver and Jet are frozen by the Black Arms gas as Eclipse the Darkling laughs at them) Eclipse: Ha!! You’re both wrong!!! The next arc is going to be a continuation of the previous two!!! Ha-ha-ha!!! Silver and Jet: No fair!!!
