Sonic Lost World demo out now in Japan

28020SONIC_LOST_WORLD_Wii_U_Screenshots_720p_1280x720_v1_4Sonic Lost World is undoubtedly a fresh new take on the modern Sonic gameplay formula we’ve seen in recent years – the new running mechanics, the parkour, the tubular level designs… it’s all stuff we haven’t seen before in a Sonic game, and as such it’s a style you can’t really relate to until you’ve experienced it for yourself. Well, if you live in Japan, you’re in luck, as a demo for both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game have now hit the Nintendo eShop!

The Wii U demo consists solely of Windy Hill Zone 1, while the 3DS demo (which can be played 30 times) contains both the Windy Hill Tutorial and Windy Hill Zone 1. In each case, you can transfer over your best scores to the full retail version when it releases in the next couple of weeks.

We can also confirm now, thanks to SSMB member Smash, that the 3DS version will contain the same cutscenes as the Wii U version (albeit in slightly lower quality) as opposed to the style seen in previous handheld versions like Sonic Generations 3DS. Guess that’s the reason for the game’s slightly larger file size! You can check out one of the cutscenes in the video below… but spoilers ahoy, if you’re wanting to save yourself for release day!

There’s no word so far of the demos hitting America or Europe, but you can be sure we’ll keep you posted. ย The US and EU eShops do usually update on a Thursday though, so we might not have long to wait to find out…!

  1. Dagnabbit! I just finished writing this post and saw yours when previewing mine. “SOB” You Brits (if you are British, I’m just assuming) are ahead of us Yanks even in posting Sonic news!! BAAAAWWW!

    1. Here’s a Generations 3DS cutscene for comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHwzNO3tKq4

Sonic Lost World 3DS just takes the Wii U cutscenes and compresses them a bit. Kinda like what Sonic Unleashed Wii/PS2 with the 360/PS3 cutscenes, except this is more impressive as it’s on a handheld for the first time.

      1. I really wish more characters could be playable. Lately it feels like the only character who has been is Sonic.

  2. Seeing that the Wii U Demo has Optional Languages then it will probably come to the other side of the world tomorrow

  3. Im sorry, but…. this is so Mario… can we please have good original games like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Heroes, Shadow, and Generations. This game may be ok, but even if it is, I just find it way to Mario-esque.

    1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the words ‘Shadow’ and ‘good original’ in the same sentence before.

    2. I’m guessing you are one of those adventure era fans. Saying that it is “Mario” isn’t a valid statement. I am a guy who never played, no, never even layed eyes on Mario Galaxy, and when I saw the Sonic Lost World announcement Trailer back in May, Mario was the last thing that came to my mind. Since you are most likely an adventure era fan, you should know that in Sonic Adventure 2 the level Mad Space used the tubular level design we see today, just not tubular, more like spherical, anyways, you get the idea. So don’t go calling this game Mario because to many, it is not even a comparison. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

      1. It’s similar to Galaxy, but not enough to call it a Galaxy.

Seeing as you’ve never played Galaxy, I can see why you don’t see that it’s similar to Mario. As for the people who claim this game has Galaxy influence, I can see why.

Remember, being influenced isn’t a bad thing AT ALL. Sonic 1 was influenced by the original Super Mario Bros. ๐Ÿ˜›

      2. I agreed with you! also Sonic Lost World is listened by Nintendo like for an example Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic adventure DX or any other video games like Epic Mickey and Lego Stars Wars.

    3. I’d usually contest SA1 and it’s sequel and Heroes on whether they are actually good games or not but you threw Shadow in there too so my raised eyebrow doesn’t need to be validated further.

    1. I think that the U.S. deserves the demo as soon as possible since we had our release pushed back a week. ๐Ÿ™

      1. I agree completely! Next Thursday wouldn’t be too bad I guess, but today would have been pretty nice :(.
