NYC Sonic Colors Event Caught On Video

NYC Sonic Colors Event Caught On Video

Youtube user “TrippyFeline” has put up the first footage of Sega’s Sonic Colors Premiere Party at Bryant Park. Among the sights seen are Sonic riding a Zamboni and some concert footage of Cash Cash including a stripped-down version of “Reach for the Stars.”  Frankly after hearing it, I can kind of see why Sega had them use auto-tune.

  1. They’re lucky really… The hat is a little awkward in large numbers but Cash Cash’s performance was pretty good. Not to mention the fact that it seemed there were more unlisted goodies to be had. Major city folks get ‘everything’ it seems. From E3 to Sonic Colors parties.

    (Btw… FIRST?)

  2. I hope this game is the last thing Cash Cash ever does. Man, they are terrible. Who are they, exactly? I’ve never heard of them and there’s probably a good reason why.

Where does SEGA find these bands? Runblebee? Zebrahead? Buuuuuuh?

It’s sad to see that the skating got rained on. The Pond at Bryant Park is one of the best outdoor rinks in the country. Great ice.

  3. …I shoulda just went, if not for Sonic Colors, then for the girls, shorty with the piercing looked cute. Anyway, why didn’t SEGA just use crush 40? I’m sure Jun would have done a better job…after he worked on Sonic 4…ooohhh… I wonder how much he charges sega per music session lol.

  4. Cash Cash did good on some, okay on some, terrible on others. o_O Reach For the Stars was actually the worst. XD

What’s up with the whole “There’s a party in your bedroom all night long” kinda song being right after the Sonic Colors theme tho!? D<

Any why is he jumping around like he's cool and super famous? He's not THAT big, nowhere near it. x_x

  5. To be honest, Reach For the Stars was horrible, the real song was amazing, but this was just plain horrible. Shows how much talent American Singers have nowadays.

  6. Man you guys could complain about anything! I mean seriously….would you all like some more cheese with that whine?! And brad…yea man…dissing zebrahead…not cool. Cash Cash isn’t that bad….so he’s not that famous. Big deal. Did anyone complain about Jarrett Ridick from bowling for soup? I’d like to see most of you do better.

In any case….cool vid. Next time, I’ll defiantly drive to the city. I should have just taken the bus and got stuff for tss and ssr. I am 4 hours away after all….I think a little less by megabus

  7. I wonder if Sega will do a sonic colours midnight Launch in the UK , like nintendo did for Mario galaxy 2 ? that would be cool, midnight launch’s are great fun XD , someone tell sega to do a midnight Launch lol where you can meet mike pollock or someone to sign copys lol.

  8. Other than the free skates being pretty painful and Cash Cash, it was pretty fun. I couldn’t really take listening to Cash Cash, so I took the opportunity to play more Sonic Colors for the Wii and ice skate while the crowd was focused on them. The free hats are actually really comfortable and warm, which I was very happy about. Overall, I thought it was pretty enjoyable.

  9. Okay, I was there and I think they’re really cheesy. Reach for the Stars is an already mediocre (…well, I think it’s just bad) song and singing it acoustic wasn’t a good idea. He can’t really… sing. But they had stage presence which is really saying something. Not all artists can get the crowd hyped, that’s a totally different thing from singing. They can’t sing and their songs are bad, but they give a fun show! At least give them that!

And what’s wrong with SEGA using people who no one knows? They have to make a name for themselves and it’s great that doing this theme will give them more fans! Ever since I heard Ungravitify, I’ve wanted to hear more Cashell. I think SEGA is doing these artists a favor.

Unless it’s Runblebee. He never needs to come back EVER AGAIN.

  10. I don’t like vocalized soundtracks in sonic games anyway, but everything is better than that bland crush 40 bs

  11. @Jakeiiii
    how do you know?
    I sure hope they are!

    @SK72
Man, that would be awesome! I can already picture it!

  12. Dunno if its worth memntioning, SEGA probably didn’t ask the band to use auto tune, the bands current songs before this already use it, its their “style”.

  13. @ cdrom1019
You can dis Jaret Reddick >__> No one, Endless Possibilities was literally a masterpiece.

Personally Cash Cash isn’t the best….they’re not the worst either…= = I wish I could name something worst that reach for the stars, but there hasn’t been anything worst. FFFFFFFFF- I do dislike people saying stick with Crush 40. It is true they are great, epic, heck even god when it comes to making a theme, but if they played a theme for every sonic game, I would lose interest in them.

  14. EW, Cash Cash sucks my balls, >(((. It’s seriously ranking up there with His World. AND WTF, he was like outta tune a lot of the Reach for the Stars. bleh. Sega, find Streetlight Manifesto, and then use them D<.

Aside from that, the party looks pretty fun, <3.

  15. Live performances recorded by people in the audience never sound very good, so I’m willing to give Cash Cash the benefit of the doubt. But yeah, Reach for the Stars did sound pretty bad, so it’s safe to say he isn’t the best singer.

I wish I could’ve been at this though. 🙁 Stupid West Coast being so far from the East. :'(

  16. That was the acoustic version of Reach for the Stars, hence why it sounded slower and different. But, in all honesty, unless they shut the games off and forced me to be at the concert, I would have been busy else where with the game instead. Not that I would have minded the music, but my priorities would have been in order. XD

  17. yeah i think i’ll stick with the auto tune version. at least that version is pretty catchy! still endless possibilities was the second best song in my opinion of sonic themes. they should have just had Jaret Reddick done it. oh and Jakeiii i’m really exited to hear the new song as well. i could care less if it’s SA3 or not i just need my dose of crush 40.

  18. Even in the rain, the whole event was pretty good. The demos were awesome, the hats were comfortable, and skating was fun. My only complaints were the ice skates being kinda painful and Cash Cash, but everything else was awesome.

  19. Why are you only calling the black kid a furfag when there’s many fans at the party who is wearing the Sonic hats? :\

  20. Ah!Segaamerica was talking about this on twitter today and yesterday, also…I’m probably out of the loop, but I have no idea who cash cash is X)*hides*

  21. only ignorant people use terms like furfag, stop hating on people’s tastes, if they wanna “cosplay” let ’em.
I’m no big fan of cosplay myself but I dont go around using derogatory terms

  22. Props for the excellent Sonic costume riding the Zamboni. Too bad he wasn’t ice-skating, that would’ve been amazing.

  23. @ ECLIPSc70
    lol thanks 🙂

    @ Tentor
As one of the girls in the video, you shouldn’t judge the event if you didn’t go. I’m not into these type of things but I went for the fun of it and it turned out to be cool. There wasn’t a lot of people and only one person in costume. Next time before you judge you should actually attend an event before making comments.

Oh FYI, New York is a great place to live and visit! Don’t hate!

  24. man, cash cash really sucks…
the only song that the main singer sang that his voic dident crack every 5 sec was the “party in the bedroom” song and its kinda pevy
