Did you check out the new Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania trailer that SEGA released today? If so, you may have noticed an interesting teaser at the end of it. And it features a familiar face we know all too well.
Yes, it’s none other than Sonic the Hedgehog. In fact, it’s Classic Sonic. Of course, if you recall, this isn’t really a surprising development. Some playable character art of Sonic and Tails was discovered in June, the same day that the game had been revealed.
The catch is that, prior to today, it hadn’t even been officially hinted yet. In fact, were it not for that character artwork being found, we probably wouldn’t have known anyone from the Sonic franchise was even in the game, let alone playable.
So, how does Classic Sonic play in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania? Well, we don’t know yet. That GIF animation you saw is the only footage we got to see of him in the game, and considering that it is only meant to be a teaser, that isn’t saying much.
SEGA has been gradually releasing more information about the game as its October 5th release date approaches, and it would not be surprising if there was another trailer within a month or so that officially reveals Classic Sonic and Tails. Until then, at least our suspicions from June have been all but confirmed now.
