If a new rumor is to be believed, Knuckles the Echidna might be appearing in the Sonic 2 movie. The role will apparently be rather prominent, not something akin to the Tails cameo the last movie had. Knuckles will also share traits with his video game incarnation, including his ability to glide and climb. He will also be serious, but gullible, which…certainly is an accurate description of Knuckles.
Nothing else was mentioned about Knuckles in the rumor, such as whether he’ll be guarding the master emerald or be antagonistic towards Sonic, but if accurate, it suggests the movie will be more than just Sonic and Tails meeting for the first time.
In addition to Knuckles, there will also apparently be another human character named Randall, who will interact with the human characters “exclusively.” They are also apparently searching for an A-list actor to make a cameo appearance, and names like Samuel L Jackson and Chris Rock are being shopped around.
I would like to reiterate that this is a rumor, and one that isn’t from a source with any history of being leaking good info in the past. So as usual, don’t take this too seriously. The Sonic 2 movie will begin filming in just six months, so we’re likely going to see an increase in leaks from the film’s production over the next year or so. Actually, there’s a rumor going on that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will play Knuckles
If you ask me, I think it’s too soon to give Knuckles a major role in the movie series. I say give him a mid-credits cameo like Tails in the first film, and then have the third film focus on him, just like the original Genesis games. They could even call it “Sonic 3 and Knuckles”, just like the game.
This will be awesome, because he is in the first one but, with a mask coving his face.
I can’t wait for the second Sonic movie because I’m a HUG fan of Sonic the hedgehog.
The third movie could be called Sonic and Knuckles just like the Sega game.
I think is the right time to introduce both Tails and Knuckles as long as they focus way more screen time on them than on the human characters.
