Recently, Sony announced that it was making big changes to its PlayStation Store. From Monday 19 October, you will no longer be able to purchase PS3, PSP or PS Vita games from a desktop web browser, and from 28 October on mobile browser. This may have an impact on your ability to buy and download a range of Sonic games, so consider this a Public Service Announcement.
While PS3, PSP and PS Vita games won’t be able to be bought via browser after the above dates, reportedly games will still be available via the PlayStation Stores contained on the relevant platforms themselves.
That means that, while you may still be able to buy Sonic Heroes or Sonic Unleashed for PS3 (if you can stomach the PS3’s wonky PlayStation Store app), for PSP and Vita games it’s quite complicated. The PSP has no active PlayStation Store app anymore (although you can apparently still access your download list, so can access anything you’ve already bought) and the best way to buy and access Vita games is through a PS3.
So unless you have a PS3 kicking around, this could be your last chance to easily purchase a number of Sonic the Hedgehog games. We’ve gathered a list of links to PlayStation Store pages so that you can shortcut to the games you want to buy.
We’ve included links to PlayStation’s US Store and UK Store; for other regions, you’ll need to visit your region’s PlayStation Store site (via https://store.playstation.com/) and filter for any Sonic and SEGA games using the categories on the left hand side of the page.
