It’ll be online-only, but New York Comic Con is almost here, and there’s something planned for IDW Sonic fans. An IDW Sonic panel is taking place on day two of New York Comic Con, October 9th.
This is the first time that the IDW Sonic team are making a public appearance since Ian Flynn went to write Sonic the Hedgehog: Bad Guys and Evan Stanley took over. And both Stanley and Flynn are confirmed to be appearing at the panel, along with artist Jack Lawrence. It’s being moderated by Sonic editor David Mariotte and will feature Michael Cisneros, SEGA of America’s Licensing Manager.
The panel is slated to begin at 12:20pm on the 9th. If you’re in the west coast of the United States, this would be at 9:20am your time. In the UK, you should tune in at 5:20pm. If you don’t have the time, don’t worry. It’ll be uploaded to New York Comic Con’s YouTube channel, so you can see what happens there.
It’s not going to be a long panel, just 30 minutes. And, obviously, there won’t be any news on Sonic games. But if you’re curious on what the IDW Sonic team are up to, this is the event for you.
I would like someone to ask during the Q&A portion how things are going with trying to get characters from previous non-video game Sonic works, like the Freedom Fighters and Sticks the Badger, into the IDW series. I’d do it myself, but I don’t know how.
@DK Fan: Well each to his own, but I’m pretty tired of the Freedom Fighters and the Archie characters in general, don’t hate them but just really tired. Assuming they get in the IDW series somehow, if it is a one-shot comic special or something like that I would be fine with that but if it would be a full permenant return then I’m done with the IDW series. Just my opinion, not angry and not leashing out at you or any FF/Archie fans here. No hard feelings I hope.
