Sonic Movie Theme “Speed Me Up” Leaks Early

The Sonic movie’s theme was scheduled to be released at midnight tonight, but Sonic just couldn’t wait to get his hot new song onto the internet! Some how, it got leaked early, and it’s pretty cool!

The song is called “Speed Me Up,” and is by Lil Yachty, Sueco the Child, TY Dolla $ign and Wiz Khalifa, who has sampled Sonic music in the past in his song Ms. Rightfernow (contains some explicit lyrics).

  5. Sounds like Bloc Party meets The Weeknd. A trans-atlantic tone that will get some airplay. If it plays in the pizza chain I go to every Thursday, we have a hit.

    2. I’m not too big on the theme song, but what you said is stupid. They can’t just take an older song like hydrocity and use that as the main theme. Also that isn’t creative at all.

  10. Not a genre we usually see associated with Sonic themes but I welcome change and originality, and if it’s a brand new song and a new take on a Sonic theme it’s welcome in my book.

  11. The song is ok. TY Dolla $ign and Wiz Khalifa worked on the song Shell Shocked from the 2014 TMNT Movie also.

  15. Pretty decent, could use a bit of a tonal tweaking at about 28 seconds in for “Away” to make it sound more “mobian” with it’s chords. It has synthwave influence too which I REALLY dig. Vocals eh I usually mostly like instrumental anyway but the lyrics are pretty good.

  22. I know it’s got a good beat and all, but not a fan. Honestly I think it’s a bit too much for a Sonic movie of all things. Paramount fixed the visuals, but screwed up the soundtrack in terms of being kid friendly.

  23. Yeah here’s a great idea…let’s have a bunch of ruff necks who rap about “adult scenarios” and use vulgar language on a daily basis make a song for a popular game enjoyed by young kids. It sounds nothing like what would be in a Sonic game or show. It’s actually pretty awful.

  26. I have a theory about the Sonic movie you know in the old Sonic movie trailer how at the end it showed a fat doctor eggman that has the look from the games well I think in the new movie he’s going to go through one of Sonic’s warp rings and get trapped in Sonic’s world.
    Comment on what you guys think.

  27. I’m not sure which was worse:
    The original design of sonic for the movie, or this song being tied to the franchise.
