TSS Review: UK SEGA Shop Merchandise – Christmas Edition!

It’s that festive time of year again! As always, we at TSS won’t be able to sleep on Christmas eve as we are too excited thinking about the Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise Santa will be bringing us in his sleigh! We must have been particularly good this year (we’ve only been completing hero missions), as Europe and the UK now has it’s very own dedicated SEGA Shop crammed with new and exclusive merchandise.

We take a sneaky peak at some of the great Sonic gear on offer right now…

Amy Rose 25th Anniversary Collectors Coin

Price: £10

If you were lucky enough to pick up a Sonic 25th anniversary coin a few years back, this one will fit nicely alongside it in your collection! Made of a satisfyingly weighty alloy, this coin feels almost medal-like, and has a nice deep relief design that compliments the artwork. The coin also comes in a display box so it can be presented without having to be removed from the packaging.

These were made in limited numbers, so if you’re an Amy fan, you’ll want to pick one of these up before they’re gone!

Collectable Pin badges

Price: £10 each

These oversize badges come in two flavours – classic and modern, with a total of six currently available in the range. The attention to detail on both the enamel badges and the packaging is excellent and distinguishes between each series, complete with the line art that matches the badge.

While the modern series seems to sample Uekawa-style artwork from several eras, they work well together as a set, and are also all to scale (the Eggman pin is particularly huge). A definite pick-up for all you badge collectors out there, and a great idea for stocking fillers!

Classic Sonic All Over Pattern Phone Case

Price: £15

This phone case as been labelled as being classic style, but the art draws from modern Sonic references with a screen-printed look. In a slightly odd take, all the characters in the print have been given sunglasses – maybe to complete the 80s sunset theme, complete with palm tree patterns. While the case feels very sturdy – we are not sure we want to put it our phone in case it gets damaged!

Hipsters and retro freaks will surely love this unusual design.

Sonic the Hedgehog Skiing Christmas jumper

Price: £40

We really love the knitted Sonic the Hedgehog Christmas jumper Numskull released a few years back, and so we were pleased to see we would be able to add to our wardrobe this year with a new design!

This new jumper is super comfy and warm to wear, and is made from acrylic so will survive many washes and still look great for many festive seasons to come. The characters are a pleasant mix of embroidery and felt, and really stand out on the front of the sweater. We can’t recommend this jumper more – if you’re going to ask Santa for anything from the SEGA Shop, this should be at the top of your Christmas list!

We can’t wait for: Item Box Scented Candle Holder

Price: £30 (Pre-order)

While we don’t have one of these in our mittens yet, we can’t wait get one (or maybe three!). The item box and Green Hill Zone base acts as the candle holder, while the candle itself, contained within a separate holder, comes with four different screen designs on each side to let you select your power up of choice while you chill out to some classic Sonic smells.

All items featured here can be purchased or pre-ordered from the SEGA Shop, with shipping throughout UK and Europe – there is also a 15% discount on your first order when you sign up to the news letter too.

Many thanks to the SEGA Shop for sending us items to review!
