Hardlight Studios Hosting a Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom Periscope Session

Sonic Dash 2 CROP

To celebrate the worldwide launch of Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom, Hardlight Studios will be hosting a Periscope session by one of the sound designers on the game.

I’d like to alert you in advance to a Periscope session scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 am PST (10/21), hosted by one of Hardlight Studios’ sound designers who worked on Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom. He’ll be treating fans to a live guitar performance of several original scores from the game, closing with the widely loved Green Hill Zone theme.

The livestream will be going on via the official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter account: Whilst the press release says ‘Tomorrow’ it also lists October 21st as the date which is in fact Wednesday so we’re not sure what’s going on there.

But if you fancy listening to some music, tune in and check it out.

  1. Since the game only has two tracks at the moment (Menu and Level) – could he possibly be teasing more music for Boom Dash? like an Eggman Boss? If so then that would be awesome.

    1. Well seeing how the game just came out, anything’s possible. remember the first game? it had almost nothing when it first came out and look at it now 😀 I have a good feeling about Dash 2 and i’m sure as the show goes on as well as Fire and Ice gets released, we’ll get some new locations as well.

      1. i hope we get more locations regardless of what happens to fire and ice – iv seen the concept art. there was a beach and cliff concept.
it would be nice if each area had its own music – it shouldnt be a problem since the game loads between locations.

  2. Interesting. Sonic Boom isn’t exactly known for its catchy tracks, but nonetheless it seems worth checking out for a few minutes.

  3. Got to say I installed this game today and soon uninstalled it, as I found it quite bland. It needs more colour. The gameplay was good but I grew tired of it quite quickly.

  4. On one hand, I’m curious as to just how good the music will be since they’re going to this effort. On the other, however, I’m quite dubious since I haven’t enjoyed any Boom music aside from a couple tracks from Shattered Crystal… I might pop my head in just to confirm my suspicions either way then stay if it is, in fact, enjoyable to me.

  5. Does this mean we’re getting more music for the game? Perhaps different areas, boss battles (with hopefully more reward, and less time-wasting), I don’t know. Either way, I am happy with Sonic Dash 2 already. I hope this is released elsewhere, because I want to hear it.

    1. I would love to see an expanded version of Dash 2. Maybe we could finally have a fun fight with Lyric and his robots! Or see more sights of Bygone Island!

But eh, its a mobile game. My incredibly low expectations regarding mobile games have already been exceeded simply by Dash 2 not shoving micro-transactions down people’s throats.

      1. You can’t exactly shove microtransactions down a customer’s throat in an endless runner. When they do, people hate the game. No one wants to pay money for a time waster, it’s ridiculous.

        1. Actually, casuals have a shockingly high tolerance of microtransactions. If anything, I’ve heard stories of Farmville players being unable to enjoy Harvest Moon games because they lack the standard mobile screw-overs like timed events and micro-transaction “fast lanes”.

Plus, Runners shoves micro-transactions down players’ throats quite a bit and its sold quite well.

          1. I don’t know, once more characters come in (really hoping for Dave the Intern), I wonder if it’ll get more microtransaction-heavy. I really want to see this game expand. More areas of Bygone Island. Boss fights against… I dunno, Metal Sonic, Eggman, maybe Lyric as you said. Better draw distance and sky lighting. A fun cast of other characters like Shadow, or Dave, or even Zooey.

          2. I would hope not. The current system is pretty good. I hear stuff like lighting and draw distance gets better the closer you are to the newest version of Android/iOS.

If the second season uses more locations, I’d like to see them too. Maybe that Cutthroat Island that will supposedly be in Fire and Ice too.

          3. I’m hoping that more is done with the second season. More locations, more characters, more action. I love the show, but now that it is getting another season, I want it to push past its current budget.

          4. Well, I would hope that Sega would give the show more of a budget now that its the only thing keeping Boom afloat at this point. Though Sega being Sega, I wouldn’t be surprised if the show was still low budget.

Not to say that the people behind Boom haven’t been good at working with their budgets. Its really well animated. But I know it can look even better.

  6. Hmm I not going to get Sonic Dash 2 on Thinksgiving day holiday is jusf I’m going to get on Christmas holiday day for it because I am waiting for Mario Tennis Ultra Smash for Nintendo Wii U on Friday November 20th, 2015, this year to get my hands on it! For a full game is that new Mario sports game is awesome of the best you know that mean if you have too may games at your house don’t know what you get something surprise or special about it.
