Sonic Finally Jumps Onto Android!

It’s taken a good couple of months of rumours and speculation, but at last we can finally put aside the doubts that have been surrounding an Android release of Sonic Jump, SEGA’s mobile-exclusive digital title. As revealed on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Facebook page, the blue blur has now leapt his way onto Google Play – better late than never!

The game is priced at £1.46 in the UK and is officially described as follows:

Jump as Sonic in a new vertical adventure!

The original platform jumper is back as Sonic leaps up an all new vertically challenging adventure in stunning HD graphics!

Play as Sonic or his friends leaping through familiar and new Sonic worlds to battle Dr. Eggman, as you tilt and tap your way through fixed Story levels and Arcade infinite modes.

MULTIPLE CHARACTERS
Play as your favourite characters including Sonic, Tails & Knuckles, each with their own unique abilities.

AMAZING WORLDS
Jump across the legendary Green Hill Zone or take to new worlds including Mountain & Jungle Zones.

STORY MODE
Leap through 48 different levels on a quest to stop the evil Dr. Eggman.

ARCADE MODE
Jump until you drop in the infinite Arcade Mode, where where it ends depends on how long you can jump for.

BOSS BATTLES
Fight in epic boss battles between Sonic and his arch-rival Dr. Eggman!

CHALLENGE FRIENDS
Compete against friends to see who can jump highest in Arcade Mode or set epic scores in leaderboards.

UNLOCK MORE
Collect rings as you play the game, or purchase them in store, to unlock characters, power ups and more.

COMING SOON
We are working hard to bring you more characters and new worlds in future FREE updates.

All of the characters featured in the latest update for the iOS version – Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Silver, and Blaze – are all available to be unlocked from the in-game shop once you rack up enough rings (or in the case of Blaze, as soon as you boot up the game for the first time!). Or, if you’re not keen for a lot of grinding – and we don’t mean the Sonic Adventure 2 variety – you can unlock everything without any of the hassle for the rather hefty price of £14.99.

Will you be downloading Sonic Jump for your Android device? Or even if you’re not, are you happy that it’s finally been released? Let us know in the comments!

  1. I got the twitter update in class during finals and screamed out “yes! Finally!” Soo many dirty looks but I’m so happy! 😀

  2. I can’t move left or right… It says it’s compatible with my phone though. Anyone else having this problem?

    1. I had that problem initially too, but after rebooting the game it starting working. ‘Tis a strange one!

      1. I tried that and it’s still not working for me. I tweeted Hardlight about it, hopefully they’ll respond.

  3. my reaction when it was delayed: AW COME ON!!!
my reaction when it’s out now: meh. i got the ios version so what’s the point of getting it?

  4. I would get it for my tablet so I could have a bigger screen (since everything is better when it’s bigger) but I don’t like paying on Google Play. I’ll just stick with the iOS version for my iPhone.

  5. Bought it for my Samsung Galaxy ACE, boots up fine, but freezes and crashes everytime you tries to begin gameplay. Unplayable. Severly dissapointed after the long wait for Android.

  6. finally! going to have fun playing this… now just waiting for Metal Gear Solid Social Ops to come out in english

  7. Yeah I couldn’t get the tilt thing to work either, so I got a refund. Game looked yuck anyway, obviously not made for big screens.
