   1. I highly doubt it will be for steam, since Sonic Adventure 2 has never been ported to the PC, While Sonic Adventure was on the PC to begin with.

      1. And despite that, Sega just chose to port over Xbox 360 version of SA1 re-release and not to use the existing PC version.

         1. Not really it’s just tiring to have someone shout “IT’S SA3!!!” everytime a new Sonic game is announced who knows maybe someday SEGA may want another Adventure game but until it’s officially announced those comments will plague every thread.
            I loved the Adventure games but I just don’t see SEGA making a similar formula like them again and if they did name the next game SA3 then people would complain about it just like what happened with Sonic4 not living up to the ‘fans’ expectations as a true successor to the golden ‘flawless’ classics.

            1. Agreed. it kinda seems pointless to even make SA3 also, because Shadow the edgehog resolved Shadow’s plot back in 2005. If they would have waited until 2006 and released Sonic Adventure 3 on a Dreamcast 2 or something, maybe that would have worked.

3. I don’t mean to be a jerk when I say this, but if there’s a time when Sega wants to release SA2, this time would be pretty good for them.

   1. Of course this is the best time – the hype from Generations is still decent. Not huge, but it’s there. Besides, Episode II is coming out soon and it looks a lot better than Episode I, so that hype’s there too. Now I’m just hoping they have online multiplayer in SA2 if it does actually come to the XBL Arcade.

   Now that I have your attention, I hope this rumor is true beecauusee it’ll be good for the Sonic newbies to play this game.

   1. It is possible that these re-releases are leading up to something. It was proclaimed that the next big game would be a “standard” 3D Sonic game. I don’t think it’ll be specifically titled “Sonic Adventure 3”, though. Either way, Generations supposedly marked the last of the Daytime/Colors/Modern gameplay, so I can’t wait to see what they do next!

      1. I certainly hope they make a proper Sonic Adventure 3, by which I mean make Sonic ’06 but good. That was the closest we’ve gotten to Adventure 3, but it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. SO pretty much give us a Sonic game with large hub worlds, free movement in stages, and character upgrades like the Bounce Bracelet and such.

    1. In some ways, I think yes, in others, no. It depends on taste really.

    2. yes though its up to interpretanion. some call it the oot of sonic some call its a great game just not the best sonic game. for me its the best 3d sonic game and my 3rd favrite sonic game in general.

    3. Well, I think so. Tho in some ways I think SA1 is better but I like SA2 more for some reason. But otherwise, I’d say even.

       SA2 is better because…
       SA2 has a pretty good deep storyline yet it’s also very simplistic in actuality. For the most part, this game is the true “Sonic Rivals” as the 3 main characters face off against their rivals of skill. It’s the one time the first true time you get to play as “2 Sonics”, one being the different online in style (for gameplay) but being a totally different guy as a character. The style is all well crafted with the music being of many themes but somehow maintaining the same tone over all while using only 4 genres. The Chao Gardens are more interactive for some reason. And the controls in SA2 are a bit tighter. You can also somersault and grind.

       SA1 is better because…
       SA1 has a better decent storyline too but is more complicated due to detail and the amount of perspectives you view it in. However, the option to choose each character indivudually is more free and thus your focus isn’t forced back and forth. However there are no “teams” and there’s more than just 3 styles of gameplay, which can be a good or bad thing to you. Tails is physically playable (for the last, workable time ever sadly.) Every other game has him using a maching to fight or move around or both. The treaser hunting stges are larger but easier, and the jewels can be found in any order, unlike SA2. The stages are a bit more open space as well.

       1. Oh! And SA2 has multiplayer choosing from 12 characters.

          In Story Mode, there’s 6 charactrs. 3 on Hero side, 3 on Dark side. They rival each other in 3 types of gameplay.

          In multiplayer, you can make 2 characters face each other but you also get an EXTRA hero and EXTRA dark character per category.

          Racing: Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Metal Sonic.
          Treasure Hunting: Knuckles, Rouge, Tikal, Chaos.
          Shooting: Tails, Eggman, Hero Chao, Dark Chao.

          1. I was never able to play multiplayer in SA2 ever since I was left with only one gamecube controller. Now, when it comes to XBLA and PSN, have 2 360 controllers, so i could play 2P again! 😀

    It’s about time this happened! I’ve been waiting forever! I’ll even pay extra for the “Battle” DLC, assuming they’re taking the same approach as they did with the original! What I’d really like to see is a widescreen option, though.

    1. SA1 didn’t have a widescreen option, right? I also hope they could make it 60fps, but that might be pushing it.

20. I hate to be “that guy”, but that SA2 pic of Sonic and Shadow make me wonder. The newer games have better graphics and are much smoother with better textures. But model/design wise, why can’t Sonic and especially Shadow look THAT cool anymore? I mean hell it’s like these models are advanced Classic Models and Modern Models are derped out Adventure models. haha Oh well. It’s an artist’s pet peeve. =p

       Also, I have a feeling that SEGA is porting SA2 to get some major cash. After their huge loss of money, the only thing SEGA can do is release their second best-selling game of all time, with updated graphics! 🙂 I’m sure SEGA will earn a ton of money from this game!

       To the people saying whether Dreamcast or Gamecube version, its going to be the Dreamcast version, but with the updated graphics. SEGA will have a “Battle DLC Add-on” that will contain all of the stuff that the gamecube version had.

       SEGA, just give us online racing, and the ability to trade, fight, and race your chaos, and I’ll buy this in a heartbeat! 😀 Funny thing is, I just found out 2 days ago that I lost my SA2B disc, so this confirmed news is fantastic! Idc if you guys don’t call it confirmed, but having HMX reveal their new game, THAT WAS ON THE LIST, is all the proof I need! >:D

       I think Episode 2 will come before SA2 though.

    Anyway, I would be happy if Sega fixed the cut scenes. I mean, there are times when the dramatic nature can be ruined when you can’t hear the dialogue.

    1. Both Sonic 2 and 3 have online multiplayer.

    2. Yeah, i see what you mean. When Sonic and Shadow are about to fight at the ARK, when Sonic says “What you see is what you get, just a guy that loves adventure!” his voice was overpowered by the music. I too hope SEGA fixes stuff like that, and not just simply update graphics and nothing else. :/

    1. Now now, don’t fret. When Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut was ported, it was labeled as Sonic Adventure, with the DX upgrade as additional content. It’s likely that it would be Sonic Adventure 2 with a Battle upgrade afterwards.

       I hope the Big cameos are brought over though…

30. This will be nice if it doesn’t have an eyesore of a border like SA:DX had. Dunno why but any border that isn’t all black is horrendous distracting to me, especially when the SA:DX one takes up as much of my TV as it does. Otherwise I’d rather just play it stretched through my Wii. Regardless, it’s nice to see SA2 finally getting some long over due love.

39. Can’t wait to play “if” the humour is ture but for my trick is get disk version (like dreamcast collection) after download the digital download version (if?) then instead use the digital download just use the disk/retail version and load the save data and dlc (also downloadable)

    Many forgotten gems, and others we never thought would make it stateside.

    It has always baffled me how one of the most popular games in the entire series, furthermore one that has a very important part of the overall storyline (introducing SHADOW, who has been in all but maybe three or four games since this one) was only available on two systems (3, counting the Wii). Even Sonic CD had more exposure than this (Sega CD, PC, GC/PS2/XBox via Gems Collection), even the Game Gear games (via SADX), hell, even Knuckles Chaotix was available on both the 32x and on GameTap. None of the Sonic games before the 2006 disaster were available on fewer platforms than Sonic Adventure 2. It’s about frigging time.

    1. I don’t think any iOS device can handle SA2…..if it could, we would be seeing so many smooth 3D games out there…

    2. before we see an ios release sonic adventure 2 they’ll release sonic adventure, however, if u play anything like that on an ios device there could be like 5 differnt buttons, so my recomendation is to get it on an ipad at least, because look at gta 3 there were at least 7 differnt icons, no way most people would be able to keep up
