Summer of Sonic was absolutely mental this year. Largely because it was the biggest show we had ever done, with over 1500 people wanting to cram into the venue, the surprise performance by Jun Senoue, the appearance of Yuji Naka and Takashi Iizuka and the exclusive clash of Sonic comic legends to name but a few reasons. So it goes without saying that we had the whole thing filmed.
Gracious Films, the company that was responsible for the 20th Anniversary DVD Documentary found on the Collector’s Edition of Sonic Generations, filmed a considerable amount of footage from Summer of Sonic 2011 for inclusion on the disc. Sadly, due to time constraints it was cut from the DVD, but Gracious Films has very kindly edited and created a full-length nine-minute documentary specially for us.
You can watch the video on the company’s Facebook page – click here to go straight there. The company is currently working on a new video game related project, called ‘From Bedrooms to Billions’ – it tells the story of the last 40 years of gaming and will cover legends such as Nolan Bushnell and David Braben, with plans to speak to the top Japanese developers.
The project needs your help to become a reality however – watch the cool Summer of Sonic video that the company has prepared on its Facebook page, and then please click ‘Like’ on the ‘From Bedrooms to Billions’ page that you see before you. Let’s try and get another cool video game related documentary on the TV!
This is great! Hopefully we can get plenty of people to support From Bedrooms to Billions.
This documentary brings back such good memories! Have pressed like on facebook and well done to those who worked so hard to produce it.
I am the E.G.G.M.A.N……
Which crowd shout made it into Generations? SoS or Boom? 😮
Summer of Sonic’s made it into the UK/European version of Sonic Generations.
Sonic Boom’s made it into the US version of Sonic Generations.
Ah! Cheers 🙂
Also I think that theres something very similar in the Asian version, there was a super secret party at Joypolis earlier this year and they did the same thing.
Aaah—good ol’ Summer of Sonic 2011.
Good ol’ sweaty, busy and hot enclosed-space SoS 2011.
It was fun, even with all the nerd sweatness around.
LMAO! But yes, It was an Oven in there!
Ahh SoS’11, as SpongeBob would say…”IT’S THE BEEEEEEST DAAAAAAAY EEEEVVVVVVAAAAA”
Chorus: “Beeeeest daaayyy eeeeeeveeeerrrr~”
