SEGA has launched a new sponsorship deal with UK TV network Sky and popular animated comedy The Simpsons to promote Sonic’s big 20th Anniversary game Sonic Generations over the next 3 months. This new marketing push started two days ago and will end December 31st 2011.

The first episodes of The Simpsons featuring the Sonic Generations sponsorship aired yesterday and courtesy of YouTube user poppitzman, we have two video clips of the coinciding Sonic Generations ads. The first video (above) contains some new gameplay footage, including a portion of Modern Sonic’s Rooftop Run stage that sees him running up the clock tower from the original level in Sonic Unleashed.

The second clip (below) just shows Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic posing.

  1. “OOOOOOOOOOOOO Sooonic” the announcer sounded like he thought Sonic was delicious xD

    1. It was supposed to be Homer Simpson saying “Mmmmmm….. Sonic’s”, just like he does for doughnuts etc, The voice sounds off, though, so I’m guessing it’s an impersonator.

  2. please make a chao garden for sonic generations, it’s the 20th anniversary and every fan wants one. We have waited long enough, the last chao garden was in sonic adventure battle 2. Please make one. If you do more people will want to buy.

      1. Well, they didn’t make it for Generations…But who said they will never make another? SEGA is fickle, after all. You never know what’ll happen.

In essence, nothing is ever 100%.

  3. -_-…..Im….not to sure im fond with this ad…..especially if its Simpson’s From out of no where……I hope they do make a new Ad, because this one just…doesnt feel right.

    1. This is just the sponsorship stuff. The Sonic Wrecks article I linked to reports that there will be a proper Sonic Generations TV ad too 🙂

      1. Yea I know its sponsoring it, but as i cant see it, I believe this sonic game is gonna be big, and it needs some better advertising. Im not pretty sure people will be willing to watch simpson anymore. I just hope they come with a commercial that is cool like it was back in the day.
What Im probably saying is that it could’ve picked a better sponsor.

        1. Meh it’s a TV commercial, those aren’t all that special in today’s day and age, all the good advertisements are shown online. I’m just glad I saw Sonic running straight up the clock tower THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

          1. Yeah, reminded me of Sonic running DOWN the skyscraper from the original Speed Highway, only we’re in the day now and going UP! AGAINST gravity. That’s even cooler than running on walls in general! XD

        2. Why wouldn’t people be willing to watch the Simpsons just cuz of this? The Simpsons is a popular show. It’s just sponsorship stuff so it’s not “out of nowhere”. That’s how sponsorship stuff works. They just help each other make money. Honestly I really like it cuz it’s cool to see something that has to do with Simpsons AND Sonic, especially since the 2 have nothing to do with each other usually. It advertises Sonic out to things in other genres. It’s sort’ve like like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was sponsored by Family Guy a few months back. lol

It’s not like this is ALL the advertising the game will get, so I don’t see what the big deal is. =p

          1. Yeah, I guess you guys are right, I am being a bit anal about this. now that I think about it didnt the simpson reference Sonic in some of their episode….like the billboard one that had sonic proposing to amy?

        3. Simpsons…not poplular. You must not be familar with how popular it is on Sundays along with Family Guy, American Dad, and the Cleveland show. Its obviously still doing good, better than good. 😐

          1. It wouldn’t be the longest running animated series if it wasn’t popular XP (I believe it is. Although the point still stands regardless – it’s been on for a loooooong time).

  4. I wonder if they’ll do this in the US… Oh wait, The Simpsons is on right now! I’d better check.

  5. This just made my day. Totally gonna go to school tomorrow and say “Mmmmmmmm Sonic” just to see peoples reactions XD

  6. Caught a little cheeky glimpse of modern rooftop run and classic speed highway in there! 😉 Just 29 more days guys! Well, 32 days for me because I live in the UK…..

    1. SWEET!! I was desperate for Green Forest, but oh well 😀 Radical Highway is cool too!

      So the 3DS levels are…

Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – Casino Night Zone
Sonic and Knuckles – Mushroom HIll Zone
      Sonic Adventure – Emerald Coast
Sonic Adventure 2 – Radical City
Sonic Heroes: ??? (Either Rail Canyon , Frog Forest or Egg Fleet)
Sonic Unleashed: ??? (Either Cool Edge, Windmill Isle or Dragon Road)
Sonic Colours: ??? (Either Tropical Resort, Aquarium Park or Asteroid Coaster)

Well it won’t be long before we find out.

      AND SERIOUSLY,

      1. I’d like
Sonic Heroes: Egg Fleet ( How they’ll do ANY Sonic Heroes stage in 2D I have no idea
        Sonic Unleashed: Windmill Isle
        Sonic Colours: Asteroid Coaster

  7. They should show this ad here in the U.S., especially when it could be a spoof of the drive-in restaurant we have here called “Sonic.” xD

    1. I’ve never understood why Sega and the ‘Sonic’ fast food place have never teamed up. They sell Chili-dogs, for crying out loud.

I remember as a kid seeing the Sonic chain for the first time, and getting excited that it was based on my favorite hedgehog – only to be cruelly disappointed.
