Digital Retailer Reveals Sonic Generations PC Specs

"PC Version?! What PC Version? You're crazy! Heh-heh."

“PC Version? What PC version?! You’re crazy! Heh, heh. ‘GULP!'”

If pre-orders on Steam and Direct2Drive weren’t enough, digital game retailer GreenManGaming  is now showing a listing – with specifications – for the upcoming Sonic Generations. Now, you can’t put up specs for a game unless there’s an actual game to put up specs for! So for now, consider the game officially unofficially confirmed. As far as those specs go, I don’t think your $400 laptop will be handling it. Sorry.

Minimum Requirements
Microsoft Windows 7/Vista/XP Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 (2×2.0GHz) or AMD equivalent 2GB RAM (Windows 7/XP)/3GB RAM (Windows Vista) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD 2900 11 GB free hard drive space

Recommended Requirements
Microsoft Windows 7 Intel Core i5 @ 2.66 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.0 GHz 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 5850 11 GB free hard drive space

Now to sit back and wait for Sonic Retro to hack the game into pieces. 😉 Can’t wait to see what folks do with the game engine.

    1. Seen it. There’s no new information that we didn’t learn from last week’s previews, so it’s not worth making a news post about. Thanks anyway, though 🙂

      1. No problem, they skimmed it down a bit too much I suppose. The only new thing was the fact that the Orca doesn’t eat you but smacks you back onto the “turtle carrying a rock on it’s back”.

  1. Those are some high end specs they recommend. I don’t game on my PC, as I can’t afford all of the proper gaming equipment and I much prefer consoles anyway. Glad to see the PC version near enough confirmed now, so PC gamers can join in the fun 😀

  2. Idk if my gaming computer can handle it. It’s becoming more and more outdated with each new game…thank god for consoles with this one

  3. I’m getting the Xbox and 3DS versions so I never really cared about a PC version, but good for those people who were complaining that they couldn’t play it. I guess I’ll just pira–I mean get a digital copy to keep on my laptop in case my Xbox dies so I can fool around with mods people defs will be making *Cough* 😛

    1. What if the PC version is it’s own version? 0.0 Then you’d have 3 completely different versions of the game. C:

    2. That’d suck.

I’m already spending $150 for the CE and 3DS version. I’m gonna be living on the streets soon if the pc version has it’s own stages :O

  4. Can a 401 dollar laptop handle it? 😛

In all seriousness though, those are some pretty high specs. Thank gosh I have a 360, PS3, and 3DS to play Generations on.

  5. Im glad to see Theres a PC version now cause that means mods. can be created and different boards can be made from fans.

    1. Just like Sonicx2218 said, not completely. Not all of them will have the ideal computer to run this smoothly 😛

  6. This is really nice. Both of my computers are MORE then capable of playing it. I’m just glad I don’t have to go buy a console to play this.

  7. Good to see I can meet system requirments 🙂 thought I could. Not sure I have the best processor ever. My pny Geforce 250 should do the trick.

    1. Wow my Asus just gets in the reccomended section…..By the next sonic pc game my gaming laptop will be outdated 🙁

BUT AWESOME NEWS!!! Been Hopping that this game would be released on PC WAY TO GO SEGA! Buying whenever i can and as fast as i can.

  8. HUGE SPOILERS! ****

The time eater is an evil sonic from the future who took a negative effect from the chaos emeralds.

      1. Lol! yes i know, i know. Nobody or you have to be believe me, everyone will just see it for themselves when they play the game..

        1. uhh “Lol! yes i know, i know. Nobody or you have to be believe me” so what your saying is we dont have to believe you dosent just say ITSA FAKE HAHHA

  9. NOOOOO,
Why does my laptop have super powerful RAM, video RAM and everything but a good processor?
    WHY, WHY, WHY?
That means that I’ll be playing it on my father’s laptop if he ever lets me.

  10. Good lord the recommended specs for this are crazy, either it’s going to be a lazy port or will look significantly better on PC. Unfortunately, with SEGA’s track record, it will likely be a lazy port and play worse than the console versions.

  11. Be able to run that without an issue, woo!
Might even wait for it to hit a crazy low price on Steam since I’ve already pre-ordered the Ps3 collectors edition.

Ah steam sales, how I love you.

  12. HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER!!!!!!
FINALLY!! I still feel a little edgy as SEGA hasnt confirmed themselves. Why are they trying to hide it? I really hope the game allows USB PS3/Xbox controllers, coz those are fun and it just becomes like the consoles! ^.^
    Now….I need me a new processor D:

  13. Im kinda skeptical my GT 430, core 2 duo 1.8Ghz, 2GB RAM PC is going to run this…

I can always overclock my CPU, but still, not sure.

      1. Not exactly. Windows and Mac aren’t the same, which is why some games need their own versions on Mac :/
Like with The Sims series, it’s been released in both Windows and Mac, seperately, because Mac version doesn’t work on Windows =P Or that’s what I think it is.

      2. The game will probably use DirectX (9 and/or 10) as the graphics API which is not available on Mac OS. If the game was using OpenGL, then a Mac port would be more likely.

Generally speaking when people refer to PC, they probably mean Windows. Of course this is not proper because “PC” is a hardware platform capable of running any operating system such as Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Unix, BSD, etc.

  14. Steam is known for being Mac proactive, so maybe they see something down the line. On that note though how many Macs will be able to run this?. They have good processors for the most part on their higher end computers, but I can’t imagine my Macbook or a Mac mini being able to even run this on low settings. The audience would be limited as most of the Mac users I know are Macbook and iMac users. Glad to know that my new 6870 and Phenom II 955 will be more than enough though to handle this Maxed out, I hope…..

  15. Does anyone else find it odd that this game is so huge? Sonic Unleashed had similar detail, but it was only 6.5GB. The demo for this game was 650MB. I have a more in-depth analysis of level count and whatnot, but I’d figure we haven’t been told everything that’s in this game yet…

    1. Augh, cant type tonight.I meant that accoarding to my friend,I barely meet minimal system specs. In several departments, that graphics card is an older model by a few years, processor is good, more than enough ram. But still might find it pretty laggy.

  16. Shadzter, I’m thinking about Pre-ordering the PC version as well as the Xbox 360 version. Will I need a Microsoft controller or something else?
