SEGA Europe has released a new trailer for their upcoming port of classic Mega CD/SEGA CD title Sonic CD. Like the last trailer, this one teases a connection to the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 saga, but doesn’t give any new hints away. There’s also still no clearer release date than ‘Late 2011’.

We’ll pass on more details as and when we get them.

  1. FIRST ONE!!! yh i know they said in the last one all consoles and mobiles but what about the blackberry? if they haven’t got it on there then it’s not all platforms and mobiles

    1. Yeah, they should have been a bit more careful about that.

      The currently announced platforms are:
      PC Download
      Xbox Live Arcade
      PlayStation Network
      iPod Touch
      iPhone
      iPad
      Windows Mobile 7
      Android

  2. It’s COMING TO PC! Well that’s good news for me. That means unless the specs are UBER high I should be able to play it (Mind you, I couldn’t play Sonic Mega Collection on my own pc. I have to play it on my mother’s vista laptop which is threatening to break the disc with its rubbish disc tray). Considering I bought a Wii just to play sonic games, i hope I’m not going to have to buy an X-box or an Playstation just to play Sonic CD. Mind you, I wouldn’t mind a proper DISC release, but that’s probably not going to happen.

    1. Nope, it’s always been set after – how else would Eggman have revisited his old badniks and boss machines?

Unless that was a typo and you meant “I thought that Sonic CD took place before 2, 3 and Knuckles”, in which case, yes, previously a good majority of fans assumed it did, but Sonic Team just decided to retcon this to help rebuild hype for Sonic 4 Episode 2.

Of course, Sonic CD is a totally one-off, seperate adventure so it makes no odds where in the classic series it’s placed. Hell it actually makes slightly more since considering the robot Sonic in this one is far improved over the ones in 2 and Knuckles.

    2. Sonic CD takes place after Sonic 1…when he was still running solo then comes Sonic 2 which leads to Sonic 3 & Knuckles, then the Sonic 4 saga. I’m guessing with the return of Metal Sonic for the Sonic 4 saga, they are going back to show the origins of Metal Sonic, which I see is the only connection I see for Sonic CD.

  3. See where the Sonic 4 saga began?
Wow, they’re really shoving that in our faces, now aren’t they?

    1. True, but if that’s the case, then they should do Sonic [Adventure] 3 in the next ten years like they did Sonic 4.

  4. I still think this whole “Sonic 4 prequel” thing is primarily a marketing device to make people mentally put this in line with Sonic 4 rather than the re-releases of the old Mega Drive games. It makes it feel more like a proper game rather than a quick port that most people would look over.

  5. yay Black Berry is not getting it! take that Black Berries! you suck so bad you dont even have any good games on there!

      1. true fact, the only games you get on black berries are either cheap ports of games you get on the internet for FREE or games comparable to Sonic Next Gen: incomplete and no use
