Sonic Generations Playable at Gamescom and Eurogamer Expo

Gameswelt.de reports that SEGA will be attending Gamescom in Cologne this year in full force. The publisher will be hosting more 20th Anniversary celebrations for their spiky blue mascot Sonic by recreating the hedgehog’s first stage Green Hill Zone in real life. Attendees will also find an 8 meter tall Sonic model/statue at their booth. As for games, SEGA has so far confirmed that both console and handheld versions of Sonic Generations and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games will be at the event.

Gamescom will take place from 17th-21st August at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Tickets are available to purchase from the event’s website.

In the UK, Eurogamer.net has announced that a bunch of SEGA’s games will be playable at their Eurogamer Expo. The games announced are as follows: Sonic Generations, Binary Domain, Anarchy Reigns, Renegade Ops and House of the Dead Overkill: Extended Edition. No word has been given regarding platforms.

The Eurogamer Expo will run from 22nd-25th September at London’s Earl’s Court One. Tickets are available to purchase from the event’s website.

  1. I wonder if hyping up these games so much is such a good idea… Give people too much chance to test it out, lose a lot of potential customers if they don’t like it.

    1. But it’s a risk they’re willing to take. Besides, a lot of people seem to really like it. So they may gain customers just as easily. At least they’re honest. =)

  2. Nice! Aaron Webber has said that the 3DS is currently going through some pretty big changes. I hope to see GHZ again, and see what SEGA has done with the 3DS version. 🙂 I pretty much like it the way it was, but with improvements is a bonus for me!

…A real-life Green Hill? Huh, id like to see how SEGA handles that. 😛

    1. Hey! Don’t foeget the 3DS version got lucky enough to get Casino Night Zone! I mean I can pretty much predict how it will look in my head but it’d still be cool! =)

      1. I never said I tried the 3DS demo. Over at TSSZ, Aaron posted a comment saying how the 3DS is going through a lot of changes.

        1. That’s great news 😀 I’m glad they are working on it…I need to see more of the gameplay since I’ve only seen pictures and a few vids I ahve a feeling I’ve missed out some things included on it I’m still unsure about that version o_O

      2. @Jix – You misunderstood me. When I said “I liked it the way it was” I was talking about the E3 Build. Then, when I said “but with improvements is a bonus for me”. I was talking about how we will be seeing improvemnts when people go to Gamescom. I hope Aaron was telling the truth! 🙂

  3. Leaked demo files sugest updated build to be shown at Gamescom. With updated build they will probably show new level.

  4. heheh cologne. does it smell like axe or old spice there. Sorry couldn’t resist.
And yes they are going full force. maybe even a little over board with that 8 meter tall statue. Be cool to see that real life green hill zone but I could just look at what they did to Aaron Webber’s desk. XD when are they going to announce a new trailer and theme and if generations is coming to pc!?

    1. Shadzter says the PC Version has not been officially announced even though a lot of reports have announced but it’s still wishful thinking my friend it may just come out 🙂 hopefully you won’t miss out on this…

  5. There may be only 1500 ten-inch Sonic 20th Anniversary statues, but there is only one eight-metre statue.
