Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 Commemorative 20th Anniversary Soundtrack Announced

Masato Nakamura, the mastermind behind the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 soundtracks and member of the popular Japanese super-band DREAMS COME TRUE will be producing a commemorative CD soundtrack to be released over the summer.

Not only will the soundtrack contain songs taken from the first two Sonic the Hedgehog titles for the SEGA Megadrive/Genesis, it will also include a reprint of the original sound demo tapes from both games, along with other bonus tracks yet to be announced.

This will surely be a must-have item for every fan amongst the community, let alone videogame music connoisseurs. Similar to the Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes re-release soundtracks, this CD album looks set to only be available to Japan.

Sonic Stadium will keep you up to date as we learn more about this fantastic compilation!

  3. This is wonderful news! I hope it’s not a compilation and contains *everything* along with the bonus tracks. This is an automatic buy for me.

    1. I hope it’s worth it even I’m Sonic’s number 1 Fan in the series because I can’t be beaten! Let’s hope They had some awsome effectes like Fusion from Dragon Ball Z

    2. On the link I saw the story of this, it said it would have every track from Sonic 1 and 2 with the extra stuff. Seeing as the whole soundtrack for both games runs about just 40 mins, I’m sure both will be on there.

      But the demo stuff I can’t wait to hear!

    If they’re doing this for S1&2, I am extremly curious if they’re doing this with Sonic 3.

  11. Call me crazy, but you really know what I’d like as a bonus track of the Sonic 2 album? The original vocal version of “Sweet Sweet Sweet”/”Sweet Dreams” that was the basis for the Sonic 2 ending theme.

    1. That’s “Dreams Come True” and most likely it might just be there. If it’s not, well you can find it on youtube. XD

  14. Japan only my FOOT! If I can get my hands on both the American and Japanese 10th Anniversary packs, then best believe I’ll have this too!

  15. Why so they release these things as Japan only, surely it’s obvious there’s a market for it elsewhere. Better to actually sell it to us, than to make us wait for it to be available on Pirate Bay.
