Just minutes ago, SEGA released a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1‘s Mad Gear Zone, exclusively at GameSpot. As the zone’s name indicates, it is full of gears that Sonic can will need to run and ride on to get to new areas or to open doors with. The stage is very reminiscent of classic Sonic stages like Scrap Brain Zone and Metropolis Zone, full of elements that raised the difficulty for in those stages and look to do the same here too. The Shellcracker badniks also make a return. The trailer finishes with the U.S. release dates for all platforms, which match up with the ones IGN revealed the other day.

The level looks great better than the leaked footage, now what i really want to see is super sonic… I know there is a leaked version but it seems as if sega has made a completely different game based off the leak.

Oh crap, if this is anything like metropolis then assteron, sHellcracker, and slicer might be back. I know that stupid shellcracker is though.
Something In my opinion: Although scrap brain and metropolis were fun zones, to me they didnt quite capture the “factory-like” feel that the zones were meant to be (except scrap brain zone act 1, that level was cool). But I know that was because the programmers and designers could only do so much at that time.
I really like mad gear because the HD graphics captured the elements very well.

I saw Asterons and Slicers in the trailer.
Asteron=Gamers throwing their wiimotes/xbox/playstation controllers at the tv screen out of sheer anger.

Ok, so Splash Hill looks a little plain, but the rest of the game looks great. This along with the last couple trailers sold me for sure (not that I wasn’t going to buy anyway)!
Wow. As soon as I saw the release date when it was revealed I predicted this trailer was coming soon, as I’m sure many others did as well. I mean come on. We got a trailer of everything EXCEPT Mad Gear. It was kinda obvious. XD
I gotta say, Scrap Brain and Metropolis Zone are boring. But this actually looks pretty fun. This is the only Sonic 4 trailer that got me excited while the others just had me thing “looks nice”. XD
It’s like Metropolis Zone as the game is meant to have similar style to Sonic 1 and 2, but this level is also heavily original and creative.
As for slicers, shellcrackers and asterons, all I gotta say to you guys is… Round 2, homies. Bring it on. =_= (What? o.o It’s Robotnik’s BASE! If the robots aren’t a pain in the quill then they’re in not the right bots for this level. XD)

And like the other zones, I like how they added in new elements along with returning gimmicks.

It’s Sonic freakin 4… [REFERENCES REMOVED] There’s a story like the classic games, but like the classic games it isn’t really told through the game is we merely see levels and bosses. There isn’t really a way TO spoil a game like this.
Heck, I know the whole story to the original 3 and all their levels inside and out.. and it didn’t spoil those games for me. I still play them. XD

All I will say for right now is some people will find it interesting and some people will be like WTF lol.
For me, Im not quite sure on what to say about it. But then again I dont know how the story layout will look like in Ep2 so it could be interesting how it will play out.

The game was spoiled with all of the leaks, but believe it or not, there are people out there who have been doing their best to avoid all of the leaks. The game doesn’t have a big story in Episode 1, no, but some people would consider the thing I edited out to be a spoiler. It’s a big thing returning and some people might not expect SEGA to have brought that back to be used the way it was in the classics, since it’s been so restricted over the years. Those people would no doubt like it to be a surprise.

I don’t see why not, since the title IS “Sonic The Hedgehog 4″ and it IS based on the classics. It only makes sense for it to be included. I thought everyone know it’d happen as soon as they found out the title. XD (plus, they’ve already officially revealed Special Stages.)

I was going over an odd idea with a friend of mine. I wonder what it’d be like if, just for the heck of it, they made a full 3D game like the mainstream 3D games but of Sonic 1 – S&K.
Like Sonic 1 – S&K as one whole game in 3D. I’d sure hope the fight between Sonic and Knuckles ended up being more of a challenge and epic. xD Plus we can actually see it like a story. Plus it’d still have the climatic ending. XD

You didn’t expect a game continuing from the saga and gameplay style of the classic games to have it because the recent games that are totally different didn’t have it? Wouldn’t one assume that “Sonic The Hedgehog 4” is going to be closer to “Sonic The Hedgehog”, “Sonic The Hedgehog 2” and “Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles” than next gen, Sonic Heroes or Sonic Unleashed?
And I wasn’t referring to whether or not I saw leaked footage. I was referring to the fact I saw the title (Sonic The Hedgehog 4), the gameplay (classic-like), already knew the game was aimed to bring back majore classic elements and, lastly, the special stages (which were revealed quite some time ago)
