Sonic 4 iPhone Screenshots and Artwork

SEGA of America has just released a batch of screenshots and artwork for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1‘s iPhone/iPod Touch release, as well as their other future iPhone releases in a new blog entry. The screens are taken from Splash Hill Zone, Lost Labyrinth Zone and a Special Stage, the latter being our first ‘official’ glimpse of any Special Stage at all. Details at SEGA’s blog confirm that the iPhone version will support HD visuals.

CLASSIC SONIC STAGES! Race through traditional Sonic Zones rendered in full HD visual quality.

NEW MOVES! All of Sonic’s classic moves are available, including the newer Homing Attack which will add a new level of control and excitement.

SPECIAL STAGES RETURN! A staple of the Genesis-era games, the special stages return allowing fans to collect the chaos emeralds and turn into Super Sonic.

REVAMPED CLASSIC BOSS BATTLES Dr. Eggman returns with new and improved mechas and will go berserk when he accumulates damage.

Even larger versions of the ‘box-art’ and logo are available at SEGA’s Flickr.

  1. Is that a 3D model? I haven’t looked at the Wii/360/PS3 screenshots in a while, but I remember the pre-rendered sprites looking smoother…

  2. FINALLY. I’m just a little curious about the second games looks on the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4th gen. Will the graphics be as good as the PS360 one on episode 2?

By the way, how do you get Sonic to hold the iPod/iPhone in the iOS version? Do you just touch him?

  3. Whoa whoa waaaiiit. First look at the special stages? We already saw what the special stages in Sonic 4 were like months ago.

Maybe everyone’s confused with the special stages in Sonic Colors? There was mentions of and I think a screenshot on the DS version but otherwise nothing.

    idk.

Sonic looks more “cool” in these screenshots than in the ones for Wii and 360 etc. He looks less jiggly, a little more “blue” and fast. Though the graphics make it a LITTLE like Sonic Rush but otherwise he looks specifically like from the Adventure series rather than the games after it. Or maybe it’s just me. ^^; Who cares. Still fun! C:

    … Haven’t had a hit.. since E3!
You gotta help me Sega! D:

    I’m Desperate.

  5. @ Ax: I said this special stage screenshot is the first ‘official’ glimpse of the special stage. I’m well aware we saw the special stage in the leaks months ago. I was just acknowledging that this is the first time SEGA has officially shown them. πŸ™‚
