Sonic Adventure XBLA/PSN will not have widescreen, or the Game Gear games

Well, like I promised you guys, I hunted down the person in charge of the Sonic Adventure booth, and asked him a few questions. Here are the details.

Sonic Adventure will not have widescreen OR the Game Gear games. He was not able to tell me what the DLC will be.

  1. Not really, it’s on PSN too. Microsoft has nothing to do with it, it’s just SEGA being lazy with another cash-in.
They’re only porting the PC version and on that you could just modify a few files. Laziness, just like when Megadrive Collection didn’t have lock-on.

  2. Nuts about widescreen, but this is pretty typical fare. Not a bad thing. Mega Man Zero Collection didn’t have any worthwhile extras, and even then, four games in one is pretty hard to beat. Same with Sonic Adventure, a full-length game.

  3. The DLC may be the DLC for the original (that was what the internet option on the DC version was for right?) and the DLC may also be the extra missions or the GG games that were on the original. I just hope that the SFX is the same as it was on the DC and not the GCN sounds… they sucked so bad on GameCube…

  4. GG games should NOT be played on a TV. Buy a GG, or plug in a Master System. 😛

  5. “There will not be widescreen nor the Game Gear games. However, you will see DLC.” He says as he makes another mental notch in his tally of people that will probably buy the $2 Widescreen DLC and $1 each Game Gear Game DLC.

  6. There’s plenty of other ways to play a GG game, guys. Those games are bloody boring anyway. :]

  7. @Kail.

Get out and Baww somewhere else, you’re stinking up the comment section with your fail.

  8. I bet one of the DLCs will be Metal Sonic like in SADX. And you’ll have to pay for him.

  9. @ Sonikku

    He’s right though..

Widescreen would’ve been amazing. Especially with the HD graphics.

  10. The graphics are not HD.
The RESOLUTION is HD, not the graphics themselves.
Graphics are native 420p at best, they’ve just upscaled it to 720p or 1080p

  11. @ SonikkuHedgehog:
No, Kail is right. This is pretty pathetic for Sega to pull. Not only is it the generally inferior DX version which I’m sure no one actually wanted over the DC version, but it is the DX version without any of the bonus features of the original release or any optimization for the PS360 whatsoever. In essence, it is basically confirmed to be a crappy port of an already crappy port.

  12. I Said “Never use the Gamecube or PC Version because the game-play is too slow, too shiny please use the dreamcast version it faster but make more better looking forgot about the game gear/master system games that better that only for gamecube or PC version) but please add the widescreen that support 1080i/1080p”

    P.S: SEGA Quit being lazy!!!

  13. Correct Version:

I Said “Never use the Gamecube or PC Version because the game-play is too slow, too shiny please use the dreamcast version it faster but make more better looking forget about the game gear/master system games that better that only for gamecube or PC version) but please add the widescreen that support 1080i/1080p”

P.S: SEGA Quit being lazy and also quit rushing because it will make the game more glitch!!!

  14. I wouldn’t care so much about the lack of DX content if they could utilize the DC Chao raising system and DC Chao Gardens. Giving Super Sonic his metallic DC textures would be a big improvement as well. Of course, this all could’ve been avoided if SEGA had just ported the superior DC version to begin with…

DLC predictions: Metal Sonic; Mission Mode. If there’s enough of an uproar, I’m sure it would be possible for SEGA to add a widescreen setting through an update too (hell, there’s an emulator that can FORCE DC games to run in widescreen… how hard could it be?). That’s not to say I think it will ever happen, but if enough people cared enough about the feature and boycotted the XBLA release, there’s a 0.01% chance that SEGA could actually notice and consider adding widescreen.

  15. Forget this game… when it comes to being Live/PSN arcade title, that is. All this complaining about DX’s crappy content and widescreen (that didn’t really improve the overall enjoyment of the game itself) is an eye sore in it’s self. rofl

  16. I’m not UPSET over the lack of wide-screen to the point where I’ll cry my eyes out, but there are dreamcast emulators that can force these games to output in widescreen, why can’t Sega just do it for Sonic Adventure? They’re doing it for Crazy Taxi, so why not Sonic Adventure?
