Sonic Adventure and SADX rated for 360, PS3, and PC by ESRB

Well, we’ve seen Sonic Adventure rated by South Korea, and Australia’s OFLC…but now we’ve finally got a confirmation from America’s ESRB.

Interesting thing to note here: both Sonic Adventure AND Sonic Adventure DX have been rated, individually. Perhaps both versions will be available in some way? Hopefully, we’ll find out at E3.

  1. Sonic Adventure DX has more violence than just Sonic Adventure…… it must the the inclusion of the letter X. X’s make things violent.

  2. Perhaps the new models make players angry.
The angry player is what causes the violence.

  3. But Sonic Adventure DX is already available for the PC. I wonder is this means we’ll be getting an updated version (bug and frame rate fixes).

  4. I just thought of some thing. The dreamcast had one analog stick,, d pad four button control, and two triggers. The PSP, about the same button layout. So, this could mean, going with the PSOne classics theme of being able to play them on the PS3 and PSP maybe we can play downloaded Dreamcast games on the PSP. That would be awesome, playing Sonic Adventure on the go (without need for a laptop).

  5. @KidReny

    You’re wrong.
    A LOT of people care.

Partially because people thought it was better than SA2.

  6. I hope they make the game in HD!!! If it is just another port I won’t get it since I have it for Game Cube.

  7. Sorry for double posting, I meant that I will get the game if it is in HD, if it not I won’t.

  8. Sonic Adventure is much better than SA2, but they should release both games for those that don’t still have their dreamcast.

  9. @ Casanova

I think that shooting small baby Chao is more violent than anything DX had.

Anyway, it’s great to see that both have been rated, I’m not the biggest Adventure 1 fan but I’d take the original over DX anyday. DX sucked. I would much rather play this on my Dreamcast than pay for it again for the PS3 though.

  10. So it comes to the PS3 too?
    YES!! Insta-buy, but I’m more into 2.
    E3 can’t come fast enough.

  11. Is there really any difference between Sonic Adventure and DX? I’ve only ever played DX because of lack of Dreamcast?
But anyhow, i shall definitely be buying this, it’ll be interesting to play on a console, probably easier too.
I imagine achievements will be easy enough to collect.

  12. Sonic Adventure DX is more violent than Adventure. Why?

‘Cos the X makes it sound cool.

  13. @imarafan

For PC Download perhaps? I dunno.

Nice to see Sony and Microsoft loyalists get Adventure finally.

  14. Maybe both were rated because DX will have more features, therefore, a cause for both to sell-DX will cost more than the original.

  15. DX didn’t really have much different, I can recall playing Metalix on a mode but I can’t remember what it was. I only played the GC version through once, I still love my DC.

  16. @Casanova: “G-G-G-Get a load of this is” is the most violent thing that ever happened in SA:DX.

Maybe Sega ported both games to PC or maybe the ESRB rated both Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2 and forgot all about the “2” in the title.

Now wouldn’t that’ll be something to look forward to.

  17. @ellie:

    1. He’s not called Metalix in the game series; only in Sonic The Comic. He’s called Metal Sonic in the game series.
    2. Yeah, Metal Sonic was an unlockable character in DX. If my memory serves correctly, he’s unlocked by collecting all of the Emblems in the game. He was only playable in Trial Mode.

  18. I know DX came with trial mode and better graphics, but surely there would have been less bugs? being a re release?

  19. @ Kaoz
No, DX has more bugs than the original because of a simple reason .
As you may know SA came a entire year earlier out in japan than in western territories.
Because of that, the western version was much more polished and had a lot less bugs than the japanese one.
However, SADX is based off the inferior japanese version.
So DX has less problems than the japanese version, but more than the western version.

  20. @nuckles

No, SADX is much more than that, on top of having better graphics it has more Emblem’s, extra missions, METAL SONIC AS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER, more Chao feature’s, tighter controls, and a MUCH better frame rate.

Yeah the glitches are there and some are obvious, but they fixed the ones that existed and those were WORSE. Most of the new glitches in DX you actually have to TRY to do, you certainly don’t fall outside that one part of Sonic’s Emerald Coast when you’re about to go to the bridge that takes you to the whale. Why do people dog on the remake? It’s much better than the original if you actually PLAY IT.

  21. @Monic

    I’ve 100% both.
    Original is still better haha.
All they really did was lift the chao straight from SA2B, changed the models and over-glossed them (speaking of which, tikal got a new one and eggman didnt wtf)
And add in metal sonic who was going to be in the original anyway.
Very lazy remake, Adventure 2 battle at least tried.

  22. As glad as I am to see SA come out, I’d be even more inclined to see SA2 get it’s light

  23. I hope this is some sort of obscure indication that SEGA will be releasing SA3 for Sonic’s 20th Anniversary.

    /overlyoptomistic

  24. @ Kaoz

Yes, the difference is that Sonic Adventure DX was awful compared to the original. DX had darker graphics, horrible audio, and a bunch of gamegear games.

  25. @ Monic

Metal sucks in SADX, all he is is Sonic but he looks different and glides. He plays exactly the same. He really is nothing special.

  26. I hope Sega ports Sonic Adventure 2: Battle to PC. Sonic Adventure DX is already available for this platform.

  27. someone refresh my memory.
Was that burger man more glitchy in Adventure or DX.

    Either way…
I miss my burger man =(

  28. What if… this is a BIG if.. but, how bloody cool would it be if it was released in HD? like Vigilante 8? That would be so farkin amazing.

    CRASHICTH SIGNING OUT…………

  31. Oh yeah, definitely getting this for 360. The Dreamcast and Gamecube have both been put away and I need to play SA1..

  32. @ Kaoz

The reason the DX version had more bugs, specifically pretaining to the framerate is because Sega tried to increase the frame rate for the new version. The original Dreamcast version had a smooth 30fps running speed; the idea that the DX version would run better at 60fps. Unfortunatly this resulted in a really jerky framerate that spoilt the game for many.

Either way I’m not getting the download. I have the original game on my Dreamcast so I can just play that and save the cash.

  33. Oh pssh, the DX version is a fine alternative to the original. The bugs present are not enough to ruin the game experience and most of the other complaints are nitpicking.

    You silly geese.

  34. What’s wrong with DX? I always liked it better… Only problem I ever noticed was framerate and that’ll be fixed…

  35. @Sam
Most people complain about DX because the framerate was slower, the graphics were more colorful, and I think that’s about it. Personally, I like both versions of SA1, but the DC version is better.

  36. i haven’t played this game in a while, wonder how long until it’s finally on xbla 🙂

  37. well i hope it will come to the ps3 cuz i cuden’t play it on pc anymore cuz me game is broke XDD but still i first had DX and i kind like it better but i still wud play the DC version

  38. We were talking about this on ACC. It might just be a rumor. But I willl enjoy playing either one of these games one more time on a different game system.
