A 6th version of Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing is being developed for mobile phones by one of the biggest developers out there for that platform Gameloft.

It’s a frantic battle to the checkered flag as Sonic and friends race
around high-speed tracks throughout the varied and visually stunning
SEGA universe. Burn through a lush rainforest, or hit frightening
speeds in the haunted mansion or casino as Sonic, Alex Kidd, Dr. Eggman
and many more fan favorites, each with their custom built cars, planes
and motorbikes. Collect power-ups and launch weapons at the competition
to stay ahead of the pack and steal the number one spot. Battle it out
in the ultimate All-Star racing showdown!
* 10 famous SEGA characters including Sonic, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman, Tails, Alex Kidd and more, each with their own unique vehicle & abilities* 8 memorable tracks set in SEGA’s various game worlds like Sonic the Hedgehog™, Super Monkey Ball™, House of the Dead™, Jet Set Radio Future™, and many more!
* Collect rings to trigger the Mini-Boost for extra speed.
* Master drifts, slipstreams and stunts to be the fastest racer.
* Grab 6 varied weapons and power ups: K.O. Glove, Rocket, Ghost, Confusing Star, and Dash.

Definetly worth getting I think even though it’s obviously not
going to be as good as the 360 version,
especially good that they have put Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue in
the phone version,
that has made it a guaranteed purchase for me

I hope its on the iphone. The graphics look like a java game though…just another game i will never be able to play like sonic unleashed mobile. Just put it on the iphone and they will make so much money!!!!

This indeed looks like a Java game. Not bad for cell phones, but it would be a shame to release something like that on powerful devices like iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Even Gameloft’s own take on the funracer genre (Shrek Kart on iPhone) looked much better…
Looks great, specially the sprites. It’s just funny to see that out of 10 characters, 6 are from the Sonic universe. But then, it’s in the name of the game, so it’s fine.

Anyways, it looks pretty good to me. From what I can tell, it looks like 32-bit, maybe even 16-bit, which means, graphically, it looks to be pretty impressive.

Yeah that sun scares me too…. Shadow looks alot like he does when he’s riding his bike in ShTH, albeit a bad texture.
