The Knuckles Arc concludes in Sonic Universe #12, in comic shops now!

This story arc has been a nice little throwback to the Knuckles stories of old. Though, as with all good things (including the original Knuckles series), this story arc must come to an end. But what a smashing end it looks to be! See for yourself in the preview pages and solication below.

  1. I tried reading and I didn’t understand what was going on ._. ….
plus the story was a bit boring ^^;;; *prepares to get flamed*

  2. Hope thats the end of the ordeal.. and Infinitvus .. the Freedom Fighters need all the help they can get right now

  3. This comics sucks a lot.
A another comic publicher needs to make a reboot comics, with other artist, this are really crapy drawings, sonic have big big eyes, and a deformed body.

  4. Uh…..Xamoel..that’s what Sonic looks like. He’s a cartoon animal. What do you want from them? Tracy basically mimics the Sonic X style, which is very similar to the standard Sega Sonic style.

  5. Actually Tracy a great sonic artist i wish we had him back for the Sonic the Hedgehog comic because the new artist we have will kind of sux as a sonic artist. mean he draws sonic really weird. ugh. Tracy is sooo much better…. D:

  6. @XAMOEL: You mean kind of like this: http://info.sonicretro.org/images/1/1d/Sonic06_1.png

Personally, I like a little variety in style. Sonic X felt somehow mass-produced, like they kept reusing drawings somehow. Not that I hated the art style (I mostly hated the voice acting) but I still prefer the Archie comics.

Anyways, I've never really liked Knuckles's portrayal in the Archieverse. He just seems sort of bland. Maybe he's just too serious, especially contrasted with Sonic. I'll be glad to see a new story arc.

  7. I’ve been reading since the beginning and collecting ever since.. there have been so many artists who like to express Sonic’s emotions through individual artwork… I think it was Ken Penders drawings that I didn’t like as much as the others.. the most requested and probably best is Spaz.. issue 25 /slur.
The story has taken many many many different turns to keep things fresh.. and after 17 years they still have the ability to do so while doing their best to tie-in elements of the video game series. Not an easy task… and we get to pick it up for under $3.

Keep it up Archie, you continue writing, I’ll continue reading

  8. I liked this Arc. Looking forward to getting it, but I’m not looking forward to the next one. I just don’t like the Iron Dominion. To take up both comic series seems a bit of a waste.

  9. I do wish these were available in the UK… I have a few from various places, really love the story actually, just wish I knew a bit more about it. Ah well, someday =)

  10. Cold Dog, do you have a Forbidden Planet nearby? I live in Scotland and thats where I buy mine.

  11. I agree with Jix. These comics are great. and yeah, I wasn’t a fan of Ken Penders art either, but these current artists are very good.

  12. @sonic4K6

As Chaos Shad said, do you have a Forbidden Planet near you? I buy my comics in the megastore in Southampton.

Are you talking about Steven Butler? He isn’t new, he’s actually been on the comic for over 10 years now. The way he drew the characters changed twice over that time. If you’re able to get a hold of back issues, check out the style he had in around issues 117-165. That’s, in my opinion when he was at his best (back then, his art had a kind of “manga-ness” to it).

After dissapearing from the main comic for a while, he started drawing issues of the Sonic X comic, which is where his style became extremely lack-luster (He was probably trying to stick to the style of the show), and when he finally came back to the main comic in #202, he pretty much brought that style back with him 🙁

  14. They are trying to standardize the comic’s style somewhat. Frankly, I love Butler’s work in the newer comics. Way better then his Sonic X stuff too.

As for Sonic X’s cheap feeling….it probably used recycled animation.

  15. @nuckles87

It seems exactly the same as his Sonic X stuff to me. And the only time the SX comic used “recycled animation” was when the artist who drew issues 15 and 16 simply traced over images from either bits of stock art or shots from the show. Thank God we never saw him again after those issues >_<
