  1. For those that don’t want to risk bidding here is a cheap alternative. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sonic-the-Hedgehog-Comic-book-issue-1-4-rare-issue_W0QQitemZ150388527049QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2303dacfc9 The Archie Sonic promo for 14.99 free shipping (note, I posted a link to this somewhere else and someone mentioned that they were blocked from making the purchase, not sure if it was a fluke or not).

Also a little correction, that last comic wasn’t made by Sega it was made by a comic company called Ashcan (I actually bought a copy a few months back for $32). Guess I was lucky for finding it at that price instead of $79.

  2. Actually Miles, the comic was in fact made by Sega, or at least Sega had a huge hand in it’s creation. I know this because I own a copy and I showed it to Nigel Kitching at Summer of Sonic back in 2008 and asked if he knew anything about it because the story was almost identical to Fleetways story.

He told me that during the initial meetings before the comic went to publish, he roughly said something along the lines of “Sega had a set of guidelines and we had to work from this comic that they made, wow, I’ve not seen this for years.”

Even if Sega are not the publishers on the cover, they certainly did “all but…” when it came to story/ideas/rules. Not just Nigel Kitchings word, also down to how the character designs and the basic story matches so much other media.

  3. Good stuff! You always come across those plushies separately on eBay every now and then, but never in a nice lil ol’ bundle. I saw the string arms Sonic in someones car 10+ years ago, begged them to sell it to me but they couldnt cus it was a gift.
I still have my ¼ issue .. its in 2 bags .. probably brown by now.
The beanie would look cool with a few quills or maybe even ears, never seen the pin before, definitely a collectable, and I’ve seen that other comic around eBay a few times, I always thought it was a fleetway issue too.
