Rubix Cube artist, John Quigley, recently created a Flickr profile last month, posting all of his amazing Rubix Cube pixel art. Of the many creations using the popular 1980s puzzle-toy, one of them was Sonic the Hedgehog. Take a look at this 784-cube masterpiece:
Check out the rest of John’s gallery at Flickr, featuring Rubix Cube pixel art of Mario, Pac-Man, himself, his friends, and an epic 2,622-cube rendering of Barack Obama.

“It’s hip to be a square….”
Part of my mind has exploded in thinking about how to even start on something like this.
Seven shades of awesome. Well, six shades of awesome.
T
Barack Obama?
Now THAT was a waste of time. But I think it goes without saying that the rest are terrific.
That must of taken a lot of time and patience to make.
WOW. O.O
That is all.
Heh, Final Rush, you have to remember that Obama -was- a hot ticket a year ago. Plus, that photo is an iconic image in U.S. pop culture. I wouldn’t call it a “waste of time,” because regardless of who is in the photo, the feat of using 2,622 Rubix Cubes to render an image is impressive.
‘Iconic’? I’m not so sure. Yeah, normally that would be quite a feat; unfortunately the choice in images and the two-tone colorscheme keep it from being epic.
But I digress. This is supposed to be a Sonic site, not some political forum. Apparently this is what happens when several months go by without any real Sonic news.
“Apparently this is what happens when several months go by without any real Sonic news.”
Uh… fuckin’ duuuuuh.
@Brad; I don’t think Final Rush was dissing the article, moreso saying when a lack of Sonic news is out there, you tend to go off-topic and discuss other things when it’s not appropriate instead. 😛 Although I could be wrong. :3
I’m impressed someone found the time to do this. I don’t have time to make lunch in the mornings. And yes, I seldom have time to make lunch the night before.
I can’t figure out how to manipulate one of these damn things. Making pictures out of these is mind boggling.
