Ebay Watch: Rare Sonic goodies to be had

sonic15th Anniversary Ltd Ed Statue

I admit, news has been slow lately so I thought I’d dig around Ebay and see what Sonic treasures there are to be found and I managed to find a few gems for you lot to get your grubby little mits on. One of the item’s I found was a 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog 15th Anniversary Limited Edition statue, one of only 2,500 made. The item still has the certificate of authenticity too and looks to be in mint condition. The statue is currently going for $19.99 and has no bids at the moment so get bidding while you still can.

The 2nd item I dug up was an original 1994 Sonic the Hedgehog sketch from a Sonic artist Manak NR. I don’t know much about this one or wether this was an artist from the comics or games. After researching around the net I could only find an artist from that time known as David Manak who designed for the Sonic 3 comic adaptaion. The item is currenty going for $9.99 and has no bids at the moment.

The 3rd item I came across is a SEGA Gold Collection edition of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Mega Drive. I’ve never seen one of these before but it looks pretty cool and very collectible. It even has a little gold Sonic at the bottom right of the box. The item is being sold at a ‘Buy It Now’ price of $10.00, pretty cheap if you ask me.

  1. Curses, if only they’d ship that Sonic Illustration to the UK! The Gold Collection copy of Sonic 2 is new to me too- looks like it was the Mega Drive version of Playstation’s ‘Platinum.’ I notice there’s a Sonic Spinball copy on there too, would pick up if I could afford it. =(

  2. I don’t think that the ‘gold’ collection games are all that collectible, it’s just like the platinum range of today or the Xbox classics. Also, the manual is missing according to the seller, so it’s not that great a deal. The other stuff is pretty cool.

  3. That collector’s statue is kind of a piece of crap. I have one, and it is nowhere NEAR as nice as the 10th anniversary one. But hey, they’ve been known to be lazy with Sonic collectibles. I mean….how many times were the SA toys repackaged? lol

  4. Dammit, I Was just about to get that Gold copy of Sonic 2 and someone beat me by about a second! Eeevil person *glare* XD

  5. Personally, I’m very suspicious of that “Gold Collection” box…. it looks cool, but I can’t be the only retro fan that has never fracking heard of such a thing. Granted I was still in diapers when Sonic 1 came out… but I call shenanigans until further notice.

  6. I have two of those statues and one of them is up for sale xP They were on sale for only $5.99 in KB Toys….

  7. If I remember correctly, Dave Manak is the guy responsible for the art of the early Archie series. He did a lot of issues from the mini series to about #40.

  8. Hey, I know a very rare sonic item, too 😀 original Sonic Rush Chucks ! There exist only three pairs of them, if I remember correctly. They got selled within the release of Sonic Riders in Germany XP I´ve worn them only once a time cause they´re way too large for me >__<

  9. There’s more than three pairs of Sonic Rush Chucks out there, SonicAdvance, because I have two of them right here. XD
