We all know that the Dreamcast is pretty much dead, but every time we see an interview that affirms that fact, we get a little bit down. Sonic Team leader Yuji Naka has said he’s unsure whether he’s going to be making any future projects on the console, which feels like another drive of the stake in the heart. Ow.
Asked about the myriad of projects that are underway on Game Boy Advance and Gamecube, Naka-san was asked if he had any plans for a future Dreamcast title. His response?
“Well, we’re still finishing up Sonic Adventure 2 and PSO Version 2, so when Sonic Team releases those titles, that’ll give me some time to think about what we’re going to do next. It’s so busy right now, especially with all the work on the GameCube and Game Boy Advance; I really need some quiet to think about things and I also need to give my stuff a little break as well.”
That’s a very polite way of saying ‘nope’, we reckon. We know, we know. It was inevitable. It makes sense. But it still hurts.
